The Saint Lucia Toronto Aid Action Group (STAAG), hosted its 7th Anniversary Brunch, under the distinguished patronage of Her Excellency, Dame Pearlette Louisy

The Saint Lucia Toronto Aid Action Group (STAAG) celebrated their 7th Anniversary with a brunch, at the Sts. Peter and Paul Banquet Hall, in Scarborough, Ontario, on Sunday, June 30th, 2019. The event was held under the distinguished patronage of former Governor General of Saint Lucia, Her Excellency, Dame Pearlette Louisy, who has been the organization’s Patron for seven years.

Ladies were encouraged to wear hats and fascinators in honor of Dame Pearlette Louisy, who was being recognized for her dedication and service to STAAG and Saint Lucia over the years. A number of members of the Saint Lucia Diaspora were presented with awards for their ongoing support and involvement in the organization.

In her welcome message, Chairperson of the Saint Lucia Aid Action Group, Ms. Delores Fletcher, stated that, although the organization is strongly involved with breast and prostate cancers, they advocate on behalf of all forms of cancer. STAAG is actively raising awareness of this deadly disease and their mission is to provide as much information and support as possible, by liaising with cancer foundations that are involved in the work of finding a cure, providing support or advocating for persons afflicted with the disease.

The evening of celebration culminated with rhythmic renditions from renowned Saint Lucia Calypsonian, Lady Leen, British-Saint Lucian artiste, Derede Williams and Saint Lucia-Canadian Calypsonian, Dennis James.
