Friday, 25 September 2026 – Prime Minister Honourable Philip J. Pierre delivered Saint Lucia’s National Statement during the General Debate of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In his address, Prime Minister Pierre spoke candidly about the pressures facing Saint Lucia, including decisions made beyond the island’s shores that have direct implications for its climate, security and development.
Despite these challenges, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that Saint Lucia will not give up. He highlighted the Government’s continued efforts to invest in the people of Saint Lucia, strengthen food and water security, support young entrepreneurs and advance access to affordable healthcare.
“Saint Lucia’s challenges are real, and so is our resolve,” the Prime Minister stated, underscoring the country’s determination to build a stronger, more resilient and inclusive future.
