Meet Kalum Fletcher – The Face Behind ‘Kalum | The Deaf Baker’

Saint Lucian national Kalum Fletcher is a culinary trained baker, who specializes in hand-crafted, made-to-order mini cheesecakes. Kalum was diagnosed with a hearing impairment, at the age of two and has faced numerous challenges navigating a world void of sound; however, his resilience, determination and perseverance proved to be his recipe for success.

After high school, Kalum successfully pursued studies in Marketing and Culinary Arts. He worked in the food industry for a number of years, before deciding to venture out into the world of business, on his own. He is now the proud owner of ‘Kalum | The Deaf Baker’, which is an online business, based in Ontario, Canada.

Kalum draws inspiration for his mini cheesecakes, from his Caribbean heritage, nature and his vivid imagination. He is continuously experimenting and trying out new flavours and recipes and is hoping to expand on his dessert offerings, with sweet treats, such as cakes, cupcakes and cookies, in the near future.

Kalum dreams of eventually opening his very own storefront, where he can share his passion and love for pastry, with the world. In the meantime, he will continue refining his art and showcasing his creativity, through his delectable, made-to-order mini cheesecake creations.
