Invitation to CARICOM’s 50th Anniversary Flag Raising Ceremony in Toronto (04th July 2023)

The Caribbean Consular Corps at Toronto (CCC) cordially invites you to the CARICOM Day Flag Raising Ceremony, which will be hosted on Tuesday, 4th July 2023, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The ceremony will be held at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario – Queen’s Park, which is located at 111 Wellesley St. W., Toronto, ON M7A 1A2, at 12:00 noon Est.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) was founded on 4th July 1973, and is the oldest surviving integration movement in the developing world, which promotes and supports a unified Caribbean Community.

CARICOM, which is home to approximately sixteen (16) million citizens, comprises fifteen (15) full Member States: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago; and five (5) Associate Members: Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands.

CARICOM’s mandate is to create a Caribbean Community that is integrated, inclusive and resilient; driven by knowledge, excellence, innovation, and productivity; a community where every citizen is secure and can realize his or her potential with guaranteed human rights and social justice; and contributes to, and shares in, its economic, social and cultural prosperity; a community which is a unified and competitive force in the global arena.

All members have an equal say regardless of size or economic status. This ensures that every member has a voice in shaping CARICOM.
