Hon. Alva Baptiste’s National Address to the General Debate of UNGA79

Hon. Alva Baptiste – Saint Lucia’s Minister for External Affairs, International Trade, and Civil Aviation, addressed the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, on, Friday, September 27, 2024. The theme for this year’s debate is “Leaving No One Behind: Acting Together for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations.” Minister Baptiste highlighted Saint Lucia’s people focused approach to development and our resilience as we navigate through the myriad of global challenges. He urged that the time has come for us to deepen partnerships and place solidarity at the center of international cooperation, and, as a resilient people who continue to navigate through the global challenges, the General Assembly is a platform where we can amplify calls for greater levels of urgency and collective action by the international community.
