February is designated as Black History Month in North America, and as we take the time out to honour the legacy and contribution of our black leaders, we reflect on this year’s theme: “February and Forever: Celebrating Black History today and every day”.
Girls United Foundation will be honouring student success, through a virtual Black History Month Essay and Poetry Night celebration, on Sunday, February 27th, 2022, at 4:00 p.m., via Zoom.
Students at the Elementary, Secondary and Post-Secondary levels will submit essays and poems, on the topic: “Choose a historical black leader and explain how they have impacted your life”.
The event will come alive, with exciting tributes, essays, poems, prizes, scholarship presentations, and much more!
The Masters of ceremonies for this virtual celebration are Robert Small and Nadine Williams.
Entertainment will be provided by special guest artist, Liberty Silver – a multiple “Juno” and “Grammy” (collaboration) award-winning recording artist.
