Consul General Henry Mangal Appointed Chairman of the Caribbean Consular Corps (CCC)

MEDIA RELEASE

30the May 2023

[Toronto, ON] — Consul General Henry Mangal has been handed the high-honour of Chairmanship of the Caribbean Consular Corps of Toronto, Canada, for one (1) year, effective May 2023.

The Caribbean Consular Corps (CCC) is a grouping of Caribbean Consulates, which has been set up to advance the collective interests of Caribbean States and their people. The CCC comprises CARICOM countries including Haiti, OECS Member States, as well as Cuba.

Outgoing Chair Brenda Foreman, Honorary Consul – Consulate of St. Kitts and Nevis, in her exit remarks, thanked her colleagues for their support during her tenure, and wished incoming Chair – Consul General Henry Mangal success in his new role.

Consul General Mangal, in accepting his new role, indicated that he was honoured and humbled by this elevation, and pledged to serve the interests of the region, guided by the collective wisdom of his CCC colleagues. He asserted: “My approach is to continue initiatives already in motion, build upon the achievements of my predecessors, and be guided by the experience and expertise within the CCC and the Caribbean Diaspora, as the Caribbean Consular Corps seeks to open new avenues of opportunity for our people, represent our region passionately, and resolutely pursue our respective countries and collective Caribbean development agendas.”

Consul General Mangal has hit the ground running, and has proposed some CCC initiatives, which include Career Guidance and Counselling Fair for Students, CARICOM Day Celebration and Flag Raising, Immigration Forum for Caribbean Nationals, and Engagement with African Union Representative Group (AU6RC) in Canada, to name a few.

CG Mangal indicated that one of his passions as Chair, would be to obtain the support of his colleagues, for the CCC to pursue the possibility of establishing a structured working relationship between National Diaspora Associations, to enable regional grassroots mobilization around CCC initiatives, and for the CCC to receive regional concerns from the ground, to inform the group’s advocacy for the Caribbean Diaspora.

CG Mangal will be presiding over his first meeting as new Chair of the CCC, on Wednesday, 31st May 2023.

Please join us in congratulating Consul General Henry Mangal on his new role. We wish him success during his tenure.
