Junior Minister of Tourism TikTok Challenge The Ministry of Tourism Launches Initiative to Select Saint Lucia’s 2022 Junior Minister of Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information, on Friday, 24th, June, 2022 launched an initiative geared toward the selection of Saint Lucia’s 2022 Junior Minister of Tourism and representative for the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Youth Congress, scheduled for September, in the Cayman Islands.

The Youth Congress has for years been a staple on the calendar of events for tourism education throughout the region. Saint Lucia has had stellar representation by former Junior Ministers, 2017 being the highlight with the island capturing first place. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 however resulted in the competition’s temporary suspension.

Notwithstanding, the Ministry of Tourism is pleased once again to provide a platform for students ages 14-17, to express their views on Saint Lucia’s tourism industry in the selection and where applicable make recommendations for the industry’s growth.

The process of selecting the 2022 Junior Minister of Tourism comprises the following:

  1. Tik-Tok video competition entitled “Why My Island is the Best”
  2. A final round where ten (10) finalists will present before industry officials, on either of the following topics:
  • Agriculture in Tourism (Agro-Tourism)
  • Experiential Tourism OR
  • Community Based Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism wishes to thank the Ministry of Education for its endorsement of this initiative, as well as industry partners Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA), Saint Lucia Hospitality Association (SLHTA), for collaboration and support of this important venture.

Entries + the approved registration form should be submitted to: tourismpublicspeakingcompetitio2022@gmail.com, no later than Monday, July 25th, 2022.
